The Maison Autrique, Victor Horta’s first building of note, is of major importance in the architectural heritage of Brussels. First of all, because this house (built in 1983) marks an essential stage in the development of the greatest of Belgian architects, and secondly, because it has recently been renovated in a way which in many respects is exemplary and which helps one to have a better understanding of the birth of Art Nouveau.
